In designing her own Park Ridge home, interior designer Tracy Kurc treated the floor as the foundation of expression. To complement her layered, warm aesthetic, she selected engineered hickory with custom color and texture adjustments, installed in a classic herringbone pattern that brings motion and rhythm into the space.

Working closely with her Carlisle flooring specialist, Tracy developed a tone that harmonizes with the home’s palette—a warm brown that feels both organic and refined. A brushed texture and softened edges highlight the dramatic grain variation of hickory while emphasizing the clean geometry of the herringbone layout.

The result is a floor that feels alive, grounded in craftsmanship yet dynamic through pattern and movement. The alternating directionality creates visual interest, while the natural hickory tones echo throughout the cabinetry, upholstery, and lighting.
