Washington DC Clients Give New Showroom Concept Rave Reviews

DC Showroom
Imagine a private showroom reserved just for you at a time that is more convenient for you, and with assistance provided by a top expert in Carlisle wide plank floors. In the Washington, D.C. area you can stop imagining and start experiencing.

Washington area clients can now see and touch our wide plank floors during a private visit to the Carlisle showroom by scheduling a Remote Concierge Visit on our website.  At a time that you select from our flexible schedule, you are remotely buzzed into the showroom at 3251 Prospect Street NW in the heart of Georgetown. The lights come on and a high-definition video screen connects with Peter Switzer, a top Carlisle flooring design expert for more than 20 years. Peter then guides you through options, answering questions and helping with selections to create the perfect floor.

Alex Zaras, a principal with Zaras & Neudorfer Architects, is a frequent visitor to the showroom, sometimes just stopping by to select samples for an upcoming project. “The Carlisle showroom is a concierge-level experience for selecting floors. It’s like my own private wide plank flooring showroom, with Peter providing me with all the guidance and expertise I need. I love it!” he comments.

About the Showroom

Since every Carlisle floor is custom-crafted, decisions must be made about color, plank width, wood grade, wood type, wood floor texture, finishes and more.  The Washington showroom is set up to create a path to guide you through the many choices that you must make. Peter is right there, live onscreen to walk you through the experience, answer your questions and help make decisions.

Many guests begin their journey at the Color Wall, which displays 80 color tones available in the Carlisle collections. Next, a series of three, double-sided 4’ x 8’ panels demonstrate different floor widths and sheen levels using White Oak on one side of the rotating panels and Hickory on the other. Four more rotating panels display different wood grades. Meanwhile, flooring underfoot shows different Carlisle collections and custom floor options. Samples showing hand finishes and specialty patterns adorn the walls, completing the display of more than 20 floors.

A clear “best choice” for your project often emerges once you see the showroom displays. If you are not absolutely sure of the best color for your space, a color table offers swatches to take back to your home or office.

Peter Switzer Sharing His Expertise

Sitting in our headquarters in New Hampshire, Peter knows exactly when the Washington showroom door unlocks for a visitor. He immediately videoconferences in and appears in real-time on a large video screen. Whether you choose to sit on chairs surrounding the small conference table with the video screen or stroll around the showroom, Peter can see and interact with you.

“I’m right there walking the client through the experience of selecting a floor and helping them make decisions even though I am not physically present,” Peter explains. He says that clients have appreciated the convenience of having the showroom reserved just for them and having his undivided attention.

While Peter says that 99% of clients have loved the hybrid brick-and-mortar/virtual experience, he still makes regular trips to the Washington showroom for those who prefer face-to-face interactions. “We’re finding that the remote concierge model provides the best of both worlds – the convenience and flexibility of virtual meetings with the ability to see and touch actual floors. But we are happy to work with clients in whatever way works best for them,” he says.  Book a Virtual Showroom Visit
