Custom White Oak Floors Define a Transitional Style

Project Overview

For this Bedford, New York home, interior designer Alexander Butler turned to wide plank White Oak to complement his vision of transitional design. Wide planks create fewer seams, allowing each board to merge gracefully into the next for a look that feels refined and uncluttered.

Carlisle crafted 8-inch planks with a brushed texture and matte finish in light to medium tones. The effect is soothing and natural, highlighting the oak’s character without overwhelming the interior. The same material was also used for beam wraps, tying structural elements to the overall design.

Balancing tradition with modern simplicity, the custom White Oak floors anchor the home with timeless elegance and subtle warmth—an ideal foundation for transitional living.
