In a move from a more austere Bauhaus vision, NYC interior designer Alexandra Pappas (co-founder of Pappas Miron Design) opted instead for a warm, eclectic interior anchored by natural materials. At the base of her design lies an elegant wide-plank white oak floor that unifies and softens the home’s transitions.

Replacing dated parquet flooring, the new white oak planks were crafted with a brushed texture and finished in an extra matte sheen. This combination enhances the subtle, light tones of the wood while drawing out its natural depth and character, giving the interiors a calm and grounded presence.

Rather than overt drama, this floor is a quiet hero — it offers continuity among sculptural pieces, layered textiles, and art, while allowing Alexandra’s directional choices to sing. The light oak becomes both backdrop and collaborator in a home that feels collected yet intentional.
