Reclaimed Oak Floors Celebrate Natural Character in a Hamptons Retreat

Project Overview

For his own Hamptons beach house, AD100 designer Joe Nahem wanted a floor that would reflect his philosophy of authenticity and individuality. Rather than striving for uniformity, he embraced the “perfectly imperfect” character of Carlisle’s Reclaimed Oak wide planks.

Sourced from centuries-old structures, the boards carry visible knots, grain variation, and weathered detail that add soul and history to the modernized interiors. Installed in expansive widths, the flooring brings warmth and depth while complementing the light-filled architecture of the seaside home.

Nahem views the reclaimed planks not as flaws, but as stories told through wood. Carlisle’s handcrafted floors embody his belief that true design evolves from the things you love, creating a retreat that is both timeless and deeply personal.
