Brushed White Oak Floors Bring Warmth to a Contemporary Renovation

Project Overview

In Beacon Hill, architects Butz + Klug transformed a former 19th-century stable into a light-filled modern home for a young family. The challenge was to balance the historic exterior with sleek, contemporary interiors designed for open living.

Carlisle provided wide plank White Oak with a brushed surface, chosen for its natural warmth and subtle texture. The generous plank dimensions add scale and presence, while the brushing enhances grain detail—bringing quiet depth to streamlined rooms.

The result is a home that feels both refined and inviting. The handcrafted floors complement bold architectural gestures, including a sandblasted glass courtyard floor, creating a space where historic character and modern design coexist seamlessly. Read the feature in Boston Magazine.
