Commercial hardwood flooring uses 2¼-inch strips of wood that average 3 feet in length, creating hundreds of edges and seams in a standard room. Wide plank floors use boards that may be as wide as 8” to 20” and up to 12’’ long, ensuring fewer seams, making rooms feel larger and highlighting the beauty of the wood’s grain.

For day-to-day cleaning, vinegar and water works very well. Mix 1 to 2 oz. of white vinegar in two gallons of water. The vinegar is safe for your floor and the environment, and its natural acidity strips away most dirt and contaminants. If vinegar and water are not strong enough, you may use a product like LOBA Hardwood Floor Cleaner for periodic deeper cleaning.
You can apply whitewash to White Oak floors for a lighter, airier look. As with any stain, you must apply whitewash before finishing them. Floors that have already been finished must be stripped and sanded before staining. While whitewashing can be a do-it-yourself project, hiring a professional flooring expert will likely give you a cleaner and more uniform look.
